AdSenseLog 4.5.0 is now in beta with several clients. Hopefully it will be released soon.

It includes a couple of exciting new features, that I hope will be useful for AdSense publishers.

AdSense EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer) is now available in Israel. This is pretty exciting. It means that -

• The deposit will be much faster. Usually it takes around 10 days for the check to arrive, and then after you deposit it, it takes 14 business days (!) for the check to “clear” in the bank (Because it’s a US check). And then another day or so to change the money from USD to Israeli Shekels. Altogether about a month and half earlier!
• It will actually be cheaper. You don’t have to pay check-deposit-fee (3$), and because Google deposits in Shekels, it means that you don’t have to pay US-to-IS conversion fee. Also, they say they use better conversion rates than the banks.
• It will be safer - no more checks in the mail…

So good news altogether. I opted in, my account was already verified (They send a small test deposit, and it arrived OK).

Not it means that about 1 day after I see the payment in AdSenseLog (There’s a payment-view report), I’ll have the money in my account.

We recently upgraded some of our infrastructure in Metalgrass. We made better mailing lists and contact pages, started asking user for surveys and introduced the very blog you are reading.

All of this was achieved with open source tools. From PHPList to Wordpress, it seems like you can do a lot of things today (almost anything…) using open source tools. These tools are mature and stable, they are a joy to install and use, and have a good interface and usually great features.
All this makes it very easy for us to focus on what we do best - our software (or web pages) and not worry about the routine tasks that these tool help us to do.

People are always asking how they can maximize their AdSense profits. The first advice I give is to try AdLink units.

AdLink units are a strange beast. Basically you get 4 (or 5) links in a small ad (horizontal or vertical). When you click on a link, you see a list of sponsored links. Yeah, just a page with paid advertisements… Why would people click on those?

Surprisingly, these things work great. If you haven’t tried them yet, do it now. We suggest putting a horizontal AdLink unit, at the top of your content (Check out the placement in oled-info). Try to blend it in your content.

I’m not sure why people are clicking on the ads, but it turns out that they do. Usually the AdLink earns more than the regular ads!

This is the first post on the Metalgrass blog.
So what’s it gonna be about?

It’s gonna be a business blog. Mainly, of course, about our Software products. And also about our web site network. Google AdSense will probably be featured quite heavily, as we use it ourselves in our site network, and also because of our main product, AdSenseLog which helps you maximize your profit from your AdSense account.

One promise I make - no cats (It’s not that I don’t like them - but I’m allergic, you see).
